International Women’s Day
Created in 1975 by The United Nations to recognize that securing peace and social progress requires "the active participation, equality and development of women," International Women's Day is a great opportunity for A Global Friendship to showcase our accomplishments and goals. This year's theme emphasizes the need for equal access to education, training and science and technology for women.
A Global Friendship recognizes women’s capacity to influence social progress and development and celebrates the determination and achievement of the female artisans behind our products. In Indonesia, Thailand, and Peru these women play an extraordinary role in their communities, bringing much needed economy and opportunity to their villages. AGF’s efforts have had tangible effect in empowering women. As a result of our partnerships, our Thai artisan, Sintuva, was able to hire six women in her village to help with bracelet production. In Peru, we were able to double a family's income.
